The Grove – Just in Time!

The Grove

Well just before the Grove shut their doors, the wife and I made it for a quick bite. Plus Whitey said that if I reviewed the Grove, he’d not force me to send him the half filled SOBA punch card that I owe him.

For some reason I never really thought of the Grove as a desirable place for me to eat dinner. I thought it was a club for the kids. Man was I wrong. The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful and a bit sad that the place was shutting down.

The food was REALLY good. I was very impressed with the two dishes that we had.

Again, I’m kicking myself for not going to the Grove sooner. So many other plates and drinks to taste.

My bad.

I’ve heard this same thing from many people in Bend. “It’s just a bar, right?”

That’s an understandable reaction. It’s also too bad – The Grove had great, great food.

It was one of my favorite restaurants in town. I’ll miss the grub almost as much as the music.

If anyone knows where the cooks went, or if they’re opening a new place, please say so.

Their menu was so unique, and everything we’d had there was delicious.

I loved the flatiron chimichurri steak. And the music. And the vibe. Sad!

Keeneye–the Grove owners also own the 541 Lounge,no? So maybe you can get similarly good food there. I wouldn’t know because I refuse to go anywhere that requires a dress code and cover charge IN BEND!!!

There was ONLY ONE GROVE. The 541 Lounge was opened by their old bouncer … hardly responsible for the food or music. But hey, give it a try!
